You have parked so badly
You have parked so badly
making it very difficult for me
to get my car out.
Were you drunk?
You are certainly very selfish
and inconsiderate.

Like Robert Frost
We have agreed to let the electric company trim some trees.
If they come when you are there
let them
Ensure they leave the wood behind.
Get them to put the small bits
behind the hazel bush
where the rest of the prunings are.
Try and get a card
from the wood cutter,
we have other trees
we’d like him to look at.
Don’t use the pump in the spring
for more than twenty minutes,
and meanwhile remember
to water everything if God
is not doing his fair share.

Gatherers
They are likely to have seen a world
much more alive than ours,
where every tree or hill may have had
the Spirit
or been associated with past times
or mythical stories,
where the soul of a man might inhabit
a dog after his death.
They would have known few other people
and few things they called their own.
But then
it’s worth remembering
the Scottish winters spent without houses,
the dangers of travelling
between islands in primitive boats.

The Nightingale
The color paintings were prepared on fine,
brilliant Wu silk, which were closely and wonderfully woven.
Traditional Chinese paints were used. The blues
and greens came from azurite, malachite, and indigo;
the reds from cinnabar, realgar, and orpiment, with the brilliant red
from coral and the pink-red from a flowering vine; umber from an iron oxide
called limonite; yellow from the sap of the rattan plant; and white from lead
or pulverized oyster shells. To all, powdered jade was added
for good fortune. These colors were mixed with stag horn, fish or ox
glue, or glue made from the pulp of the soap bean. The black
Chinese ink is ten parts pine soot, three parts powdered jade,
and one part glue made from donkey hides boiled
in Tang River water. The paints were mixed with boiling water. In
the first stage, the water looked like fish eyes; in the second,
like innumerable pearls strung together; and in the final stage,
like rolling breakers. The paints were applied with Chinese brushes made
of sheep, rabbit, goat, weasel, and wolf hairs picked in autumn,
as well as of mouse whiskers, with handles of bamboo and buffalo horn.
Where changes were required in the art, the paint was removed
by wiping the area with the juice of the apricot seed.

But the one guy who was there
wasn't wearing a shirt
was listening to awful dance music
loudly
and didn't turn it down.

By Saturn's Moons
An aurora, shining high above
the northern part of Saturn, moves
from the night side to the day
side of the planet … tall auroral
curtains, rapidly changing over
time when viewed at the limb, or edge,
of the planet's northern hemisphere.
A large cloud formation swirls
through the high northern latitudes
of Saturn near the top …
Appearing like eyes on a potato,
craters cover the dimly lit surface
of the moon Prometheus …
Cassini looks down on the clouds
in the upper atmosphere of Saturn,
just over the shoulder of the moon
Helene … Saturn's rings, made dark
in part as the planet casts its shadow
across them, cut a striking figure
before Saturn's largest moon, Titan.
The shadow of Saturn's largest moon darkens
a huge portion of the gas giant planet.
Titan's golden, smog-like atmosphere
and complex layered hazes appear
to Cassini as a luminous ring
around the planet-sized moon.
Saturn's moon Dione passes in front
of the larger moon Titan … Enceladus
continues to spew ice into space …
A closer view of a feature
on Enceladus called Baghdad Sulcus,
one of four tiger stripes that cross
Enceladus' south pole … Cassini
is on the night side of the moon,
viewing brightly-lit plumes
of ice being ejected from fissures
at Enceladus' south pole.
Saturn's moon Rhea looms near
its sibling moon Epimetheus …
Irregularly shaped Calypso is one
of two Trojan moons that travel
in the same orbit of the larger moon
Tethys, traveling ahead and behind.
Calypso's smooth surface does not appear
to retain the record of intense cratering
that most of Saturn's other moons possess.
Compiled from NASA's notes on photographs taken of Saturn's system by their spacecraft Cassini. The photos were collected at The Big Picture 21 May 2010. Submitted by Gabriel Smy.

Konungstekja
other person for the rule over Norway
– Hakon.
Olaf had the Trondelag
and Hakon had the south
and they ruled uneasily, together.
Ordericus was a bit confused and stupid.
